Why would the republicans put up a relative unknown against Hillary in '06? This makes no sense. They should be cattle-proding Giuliani to get out there - he is by far the best republican to unseat her..and moreover if the purpose it to bloody her for '08 - This is absolutely not the way to go.

Polling figures show he isn't even known that well in NY. 54% of those polled didn't even know who he was!

QUESTION: If the 2006 election for New York’s U.S. Senate seat were held today, for
would you vote if the candidates were Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Democrat, and
Edward Cox, the Republican?
CLINTON 58%
COX 25%
UNDECIDED 17%

RECOGNIZE FAVORABLE/ RECOGNIZE UNFAVORABLE /RECOGNIZE NO OPINION /HEARD OF NEVER
Edward Cox 19% 9% 17% 54%

Just a thought-Maybe the Republican Party is just as stupid as the Democrats?? If this "plays out" it sounds like "token" opposition, just to say that someone ran against Hilliary. BTW: I agree about Giuliani, but then I am partial to Italians anyway. Ciao Pisano!
