Recinding voucher-Not Good Enough -

These Pennsylvania legislators must really think we are S T U P I D!

Recent articles in the Hanover Evening Sun and the Harrisburg Patriot News have outlined the affirmative position of several local lawmakers on the repeal of the law that allows current lawmakers the ability to submit "Expense Vouchers" up to the amount of a new pay raise, thus receiving a pass on the constitutional necessity of being re-elected first.

This has got to fire up ALL OF US. If their contempt for us wasn't evident to you before - HOW BOUT NOW? - Take a moment to peruse the pacleansweep.com site. Join in on the work being done there. It doesn't take much effort to be involved - just a commitment to vote out any incumbants running. -

Well, I dont know about voting out all incumbants...but I can think of quite a few...

I don't think all legislators think people are stupid, but lets face it: most aren't acutely aware of what's happeneing in the political arena, and those who "are", mostly receive their news from bias outlets.

Implementing change agents into the mentalities of people includes starting at the youth level (which is why I hate the NEA). Kids need to learn English, American History, The Pledge, Politics, and American Government - Desperatly. They start voting at 18 - and most havent a clue about politics by that time, nor do their parents usualy have a real clue.

For collegiate level students, they have to take their knowledge to the class and not be influenced by "professors."

For young adults, realize that your job and taxes are the subsidiary to welfare and social programs. Realize your success pays for others failures. Take a class in economics!

For the adults, they cannot change unless they want to. The largest consumers of news media, this population can hopefully start seeing changes in the political landscape and news outlets. My parents are Democrats (my mom an elected Dem. official)and I try to tell them all the time, "It's a different party now,...it's not like it was under JFK."

There are a lot of good politicians. There are a lot of bad ones. It's knowing the difference that counts.

Your last statement, speaks volumes, doctor rick, and I couldn't agree more. You are also right on the money with the statements made in the beginning part of your comment. Nevertheless there are quite a few incumbents who deserve to be voted out of office, purely by virture of their arrogance and lack of concern for the people they're supposed to represent. As far as the citizens of Pennsylvania overall, I do not think they truly realize the power they have, if they choose to use it, and I'm not just talking about voting on election day, but I mean voicing their opinions on the issues of the day. It is imperative, in my judgment that our elected officials both federal and state hear from the folks they represent, otherwise they will do what they think WE THE PEOPLE want, and that's when things get fouled up.

Thanks for some thought provoking insights.
