A BIT OF HYPOCRISY!!

I have just learned of two pieces of legislation that are floating around the State Capital, and although one of them was introduced prior to the pay raise debacle, both seem rather hypocritical given past performances of our esteemed Legislature. Just for the record, let's look at just what is being proposed:

  1. Senate Bill 4, Printer's Number 842, known as the "Taxpayer Fairness Act," which is intended to provide for spending limitations on the Commonwealth.
  2. Senate Bill 884, Printer's Number 1169, which proposes an Amendment to the State Constitution to provide for spending limitations on the State.
Interestingly enough, Senate Bill 4 was introduced on May 26, 2005, which was 2 months before the disastrous vote on the 16-54% pay raise for the General Assembly. Senate Bill 884 was introduced on September 29, 2005. What is even more amusing is the Prime Sponsor of these two pieces of legislation, namely State Senate Majority Leader David Brightbill.

I'm just wondering, of course, but is Senator Brightbill trying to appease an outraged constitutiency and portray himself as a crusader for taxpayer rights?? Excuse me but this just doesn't fly, in light of his total lapse of judgment and expression of arrogance and greed with respect to the Legislative pay raise that he voted for this past July.

While I am in full agreement with the legislation discussed above, I am more than suspicious of Senator Brightbill's motivations for Sponsoring these two important bills. Maybe, he's just trying to save his job?? I certainly hope that the constitutients of the 48th Senatorial District in Pennsylvania see this for what it is--A DISINGENUOUS SHAM!
