The Contradiction Called TOLERANCE!



I have been dancing around addressing the issue of tolerance, however after reading certain comments concerning the Pastor in Boston speaking out against gay marriage, I find that I can remain silent no longer.

What is truly amazing about this debate is that Christians are to be tolerant and accepting to differing opinions or lifestyles, however others are not as accepting when Christians speak out about behavior that is declared in Scripture to be sinful. Specifically I am referring to the sin of homosexuality!

Here, in my judgment is the BIG question: Just how do you define TOLERANCE? Bryce Christensen in his article "INTOLERABLE TOLERANCE: When tolerance turns against the family," said it this way: "Tolerance once meant an attitude of patience and forbearance toward those who failed to live up to social ideals; the new Tolerance means denying the existance of such ideals."

Merriam-Webster's online dictionary defines tolerance as: "sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own." However the modern version is much different from the dictionary definition.

The even bigger question, which I will attempt to address through this posting is: HOW DID THIS SIMPLE DEFINITION GET SO PERVERTED? A word of caution--the answer may not be a pretty one!

The staggering contridiction presented by the tolerance movement is how easy it is to rationalize or excuse away certain types of behavior, believing that certain things are more or less wrong than others, or the subjective "spin" being placed on this issue, claiming what's right or wrong for one isn't necessarily right or wrong for another. This logic, or the lack thereof, is not only reckless, it is totally without merit.

Although most folks try to ignore the Scriptural condemnations, one thing is for certain: The Homosexual lifestyle is an abomination in the sight of a Righteous and Holy God. This is not hate speech, or whatever uncomplimentary adjective you choose to use, it is brutal reality.

Leviticus 20:13 says it like this: If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

Leviticus 18:22 states: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.

1Corinthians 6:9 declares: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. And just to keep the record clear, when the word "effeminate" is used in the King James Version of Scripture, what do you suppose the word means? IT MEANS HOMOSEXUALS--LIKE IT OR NOT THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS!

And just so there is no misunderstanding--THESE ARE GOD'S WORDS NOT MINE--I'M JUST THE MESSENGER!

The conclusion here is rather obvious--The tolerance movement that is engulfing our country and our society represents the gravest threat to traditional moral standards that we have ever seen, and it is time that we wake up and see it for the disguisting sham it is before it is too late!

Do you recall the Biblical accounts of the woman at the well? If not allow me to explain--Jesus met a Smarian woman and asked for a drink. While there Jesus said to the woman to go and call her husband. The woman replied that she had no husband, to which Jesus replied This is right--you have had 5 husbands, and the man you are living with now is NOT your husband. Had Jesus been alive today He would have been branded as intolerant and a hater, because He exposed her ungodly lifestyle just as you are doing with me. The argument did not hold water 2000 years and it does not hold up now!

Christians are not superior to others and you are mistaken to think we are. The only reason that I can find for why you are so hostile to what I am saying is because I refuse to compromise in areas that God has called sin.

This seems to be another exercise in futility, squirrel, but allow me a few final thoughts. First of all, I think you are using this Sunday work thing as a red-herring to confuse the overall point of the unacceptability of the homosexual lifestyle, and you compound the confusion by accusing me of discriminating against people I do not understand.

Second, while I do not understand what any individual is experiencing that is caught up in this unfortunate lifestyle, I DO understand the facts that are in front of me, and which you have available to you, should you choose to read them, which I would assume you do not, but ignoring the facts will not make them go away.

I love how we all become fanatics when we actually defend our right to follow God's law. God's law also requires us to be stewards of his law! - Squirrel is right about one thing.. we cannot force our religion or (virtue, civility, class or anything else) on an unwilling society. However that does not preclude us from calling a spade a spade... (or in this case a homosexual...)
