The people of Pennsylvania will have their first opportunity to put their frustration and anger over the outrageous and unconstitutional pay raise into action tomorrow when they go to the polls and vote on whether or not to retain two State Supreme Court Justices--namely Sandra Schultz Newman and Russell Nigro. It is an opportunity that voters have every ten years, but the retention vote has taken on monumental significance in recent months.
In a last ditch effort, in favor of his apointee Former PA Governor Tom Ridge has gone on TV with a campaign AD asking voters to vote for retention for Sandra Schultz Newman. In my judgment this is the act of a desparate candidate, and makes me wonder if Former Governor Ridge ever cared about the people of the Commonwealth he once represented.
What is clear, at least to me, and I'd hope it would be clear to the rest of the People of Pennsylvania, is that the way business is done in Harrisburg HAS GOT TO CHANGE! These back-door deals and votes taken place in the middle of the night HAVE GOT TO GO!
Let us begin tomorrow--November 8, 2005 to take back our State, by sending a clear message to Sandra Schultz Newman and Russell Nigro!!
