JACK MURTHA--AN AMERICAN IDOL??(Maybe in his mind)

When I read Brent Bozell's commentary on townhall.com, I was hoping he was being sarcastic, when he referred to Congressman John Murtha (D-PA) as an "overnight American idol."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since the horrific attack upon our country on 9/11/2001, our country has been engaged in an all-out war against terrorism, both at home and abroad, so what is to be gained by pulling out of Iraq? How does abandoning the Iraqi people before we have completed the job we begun, send the message to the terrorists that they will not live in fear? Even more important to ask, I think, is should we wait for another attack on American soil before those who criticize the President for his actions in Iraq finally realize that if we do not hunt down the terrorists where ever they are in the world, we only invite another attack on our country by those who absolutely hate the United States and everything this Nation stands for?

I wonder if Congressman Murtha thought about these questions, and there are many others, before called for a complete withdrawal of American forces from Iraq?

If these questions aren't enough for Mr. Murtha, then perhaps the overwhelming defeat of the resolution calling for an immediate pull-out from Iraq (403-3) should convince him, especially since he didn't even have the support of the other Members of the Pennsylvania Delegation of which he is a part.

This is not the time for divisive debate on whether or not we should be in Iraq. The terrorists answered that question when they attacked our country. Now is the time for Americans to come together as we always do and support those brave men and women who are risking their lives, on foreign soil, to defend our homeland and our way of life.

Well said. They see poll numbers, they see political opportunity.

Well squirrel, that just goes to show what you don't know about this country-because it is not now nor has it ever been a democracy. Maybe it's time you got a new history book, because America is a Republic.

Technically, it is a representative democratic republic. The true definition of democracy is anarchy.

Well, I'm glad that someone actually understands that!!
