Now that the retention election is over, and the pay raise has been repealed, and the legislators are hard at work on Property tax reform bills all smells good in the State of Denmark (er um PA) right? If this whole process has taught the citizens of Pennsylvania anything it should be that the members of the General Assembly are hypocrits and habitual criminals at best. They will take every opportunity available to them to swindle the voters until someone calls them on it. Case in point, the outrage exhibited by the voters was received with arrogance, and indignation. How dare you tell us what we're going to do? We're the government!
The challenge that we face now that we've come to the realization that we are actually in charge, is that we not fall back asleep. Politicians are well known for penitence when caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Just look at the gentlemen from San Diego who now expresses his "deep regret" in stating "I will forfeit my freedom, my reputation, all my worldly possessions and most importantly the trust of my friends and family." NOT TO MENTION YOUR CONSITUENTS, YOU DOLT!
But I digress. Only in the past few months as it became abundantly clear that the evidence in his case was OVERWHELMING, did he come to this awareness of the err of his ways and admit his wrong doing.
If we are to instill true and lasting reform in the General Assembly of Pennsylvania it is plentifully clear that the entire lot of representatives has been soiled by the corruption. Trust once broken can only be rebuilt over time and time is something that this group should be doing alot of. It is time we give them the penance that may help them overcome their feelings of grandure. Its time for them to find a new job.
