After sending two communications to Republican candidate for PA Governor Lynn Swann on the subject of the state constitutional amendment defining Marriage as the union of One Man and One Woman, one simply has to wonder why he has remained silent on this critical issue?
At last count, 19 States throughout the United States have passed amendments to their respective state constitutions declaring, in one form or another, that same-sex marriages, civil unions or domestic partnerships shall not be valid or recognized. Clearly this is a practice that the American people simply do not want.
And just as a matter of information, 38 States already have statutory "Defense of Marriage Acts," on their books, and 38 is the required number of States that would be needed to ratify a Federal Marriage Amendment, should it be passed by the United States Congress .
So the question, at least from my perspective is quite simple: WHY IS A PROFESSING CONSERVATIVE REFUSING TO TAKE A POSITION ON THE ISSUE OF SAME-SEX MARRIAGE??? Come on Swannie--Don't you think the People of Pennsylvania have a right to know where you stand on this issue?
