Russ Diamond Must Exit

I have the utmost respect for Russell Diamond of PaCleansweep but I must add to the call for him to withdrawal from the Governor's race. Mr. Diamond has taken political activicy to new hights and has unselfishly lit a roaring fire under the butts of the Pennsylvania voter however, he is the Ross Perot of the 2006 campaign. His candidacy only siphons off votes that would go to Lynn Swann. Now while I have not "drank the coolaide" of the Swann camp, he again is the only candidate (the Lessor of 2 Evils) that can remove the corruption from the top level. Mr. Rendell has systematically and consistently pimped Pennsylvania taxpayers out to the lawyers in Philadelphia for the extent of his "governorship" and it is time that we send him back to the slums from hence he came.

Mr. Diamond has not true shot at doing this for the voters and should lend his support to Mr. Swann and the Republican movement of change while continuing to keep Mr. Swann to his word as well. Reform isn't achieved on the turn out of offending politicians, it continues well into the new elector's term and beyond. If reformer becomes establishment, then reformer returns to private life as well.

With the primaries less than a month, I simply have to wonder what Mr. Diamond was thinking. PACleanSweep has started a fire that will not be put out any time soon, and for that I say thank you to Mr. Diamond and his organization. Like you PA, I have not totally jumped on the Lynn Swann bandwagon, because there are too many questions that #88 has thus far refused to answer, and I'm getting very tired of this "lesser of 2 evils" candidates for such a critical office.

If the voters of this Commonwealth are going to send "Fast Eddie" back to Philadelphia, then Conservative Republicans must unite behind the best candidate to achieve this goal, and although he has my highest respect for what he has accomplished, as a result of the Legislature's outrageous pay raise debacle, the best candidate IS NOT RUSS DIAMOND!

The system will weed out Mr. Diamond. He needs 67,000 signatures to get on the ballot. Rapid Edward just set a record by submitting over 50,000 and he had the Democratic Party to get them. If I remember right Ralph Nader didn't qualify for the ballot in 2004 because he couldn't get a lot less.

Do you honestly think Swann has what it takes to face down cads like Bob Jubelirer, et al when they bring larger-than-Ed budgets to the table?

Ed's a complete failure. Republican leadership has done nothing but jump into bed with him.
Swann's a nice guy, but he's being used by those same establishment hacks.

Lesser of two evils? Then don't choose between them. Choose someone who will fight for what's right. After the primary I'll start talking issues.

"Reform isn't achieved on the turn out of offending politicians..." Your words, and I agree. So why support Swann simply based on that same premise?

Russ,

Thank you for taking the time to contribute. "Why support Swann simply based on that same premise?" Because with all due respect you have no chance in hell and any vote you take out of the spectrum, is essentially a vote for "Fa(t)st Eddie" - Swann may not be the "promised land" so to speak but he's alot better than the "ugly duckling" for Pennsylvania. - DO the honorable thing DROP OUT, help expel Ed and then continue the reform movement for the betterment of taxpayers. This effort is not positive progression - it only serves to ease the chances of a second term.

All the pollsters agree: I'm getting even support from both sides. That makes it a wash.

We analyzed it and understood this from the get-go. Had it been any other way, I would've stayed out.

But those who lament that I'll "take" votes from either are absurd. I've got one, Ed has one and Lynn has one. All the rest have to be earned.

And sorry, but due to the backing of Asher, Jubes, Long, Smith, et al, Swann is an incumbent by default.

And for David Bowie, the primaries have already been decided. PACleanSweep's work was pretty much completed on Jan 30. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Gort- Ed's new record begs to be smashed by someone who isn't interested in tax-and-spend, don't you think? :)

Well, you are only hurting the good name you've built by this ill-fated campaign. Future possibilities ?????
