IS GOD JUDGING AMERICA THROUGH NATURAL DISASTERS??

Last September, I posted a commentary on this "blog site" asking whether natural disasters were judgments from God because of the sinfulness of America, and it is rather amazing, or should I say unfathomable that some folks do not grasp this simple concept.

What is clear, at least to this individual, is that over the past 5 or 6 decades the United States has drifted further and further from the principles and ldeals of our Founding Fathers, and by so doing America has also turned its back on Almighty God. So one has to wonder and ask: Just how does God get the attention of a wandering Nation?

What continues to confuse me is how quick most are to point out God's unconditional Love for humanity, but will constantly ignore His judgment.

I am confused even further when I hear folks, who call themselves Christians say that equating natural disasters to judgments from God implies that He is in some way doing evil, and this is not only ludicrous, but it is the worst kind of blasphemy I can think of.

George Mason, who is referred to as the Father of the Bill of Rights said: "As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so they must be in this, by an inevitable chain of causes and effects. Providence punishes national sins by national calamities." This is about as clear as clear can be.

If our Founding Fathers understood this simple message, it is difficult for me to understand why this concept escapes the understanding of most folks.

Individually we will all stand before God to give an account of our lives, however this will not be the case for the United States or any other country of the world.

America has strayed from the principles of our Founders and more importantly they have strayed from God's Will, and make no mistake about it--HE IS TRYING TO GET OUR ATTENTION! BUT I MUST ASK AGAIN--IS ANYONE LISTENING??

God may be judging Americans through natural disasters, but he is also judging through human-exacerbated disasters. Disasters like Hurricane Katrina had human errors (slow, personal-vehicle-based evacuation; wetland reduction; dams and levees with poor infrastructure. God is telling us something: Love the planet and love one another enough to ensure everyone's safety.
