The supposed frontrunners for President in 2008 are all LIBERALS! - Conservatives cannot be happy about the names McCain, Guiliani, or even worse Clinton being touted as the only options for leader of the free world. None of the above are electable in my (not as humble as some of my friends) opinion and here's why. All of them are Pro-Choice. Make no mistake the republican party cannot afford to abandon the religious right of the party. It not only elected George W both times, it will be all that keeps a Republican majority in congress next Tuesday.
This is the perfect time for a no-nonsense, TRUE conservative to ascend to the leadership of the party. Let's face it, GW was not the conservative that he proclaimed. That is evidenced by his cowtowing to the moderates with his "initial" Supreme Court selections.
It is time for the Republican party to return to its fundamental virtues;
- The strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
- Equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability are our core desires.
- Free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
- Government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
- The proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.
- The most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
- Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
- Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
- The Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
The first step in this process is preserving virtually the only safety-net that we have until the next Presidential election, and that is the Republican majority as enemic as it is currently.
