The culture of death that has invaded our so-called civilization began with the legalization of abortion on demand in the United States, and it has snowballed through infanticide and is reaching its culmination with both passive and active euthanasia.
"Extrapolating from the data in the CDC and AGI reports, it is estimated that more than 47 million unborn children have been killed since the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling." This was the grizzly conclusion reached by the Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society.
I am reminded of a quote by George Santayana, which says: "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." History tells us clearly that these kind of atrocities occurred at an earlier time in our so-called civilized society. Remember the Holocaust??? Those who were different in any way were deemed inferior and ultimately fell victim to the Nazi death camps. Although the method of killing is very different in this modern time, the end result is still the same: Those who are different, handicapped, elderly and unborn are systematically being exterminated. History repeats itself, and we have not learned from the past.
The challenge before us, as a culture and a society is clear. Even more important, however is how will we respond to those challenges, because our action or inaction to this devaluation of human life will have long lasting ramifications.
