"Certainty then, uncertainty now" (My personal observations)

As I read the posting referenced above, which was authored by the Moderator of the RCFA Blog, I saw much of the frustration that I often feel as I wade through the issues that are confronting our country. What causes me the most heartburn is not the growing number of issues, but the complacency that is demonstrated by the American people. It is a horrible thing to say, but it almost appears that folks just don't care if the United States goes straight to hell.

You can turn a deaf ear to the Biblical admonitions to this type of behavior, but Scripture clearly tells us that if "we sow to the wind, we shall reap the whirlwind."

What it clear to me, is that this country needs more than just patriots to speak out, we need people of FAITH to lead the way in this effort, just as our Founding Fathers did 231 years ago, when they pledged their lives, fortunes and their sacred honor to the formation of a brand new Nation--called the United States of America. I'm wondering if there is a person alive who would make such a bold declaration to protect the freedoms that we enjoy today? Quite frankly, and it is a sad commentary indeed, but I don't think there would be many.

In a previous posting for this Blog, I wrote that complacency was alive and well in America, and I see no reason to change that opinion.

Also, in another posting, entitled "How Long Do We Have?" there was listed 8 categories, which could aptly describe the journey of America. Here they are, just in case you have forgotten:

  1. From Bondage to spiritual faith
  2. From spiritual faith to great courage
  3. From great courage to liberty
  4. From liberty to abundance
  5. From abundance to complacency
  6. From complacency to apathy
  7. From apathy to dependence
  8. From dependence back into bondage
From my vantage point, I would say that we have reached number 6 on this list, which doesn't give us much time to reverse this threatening trend.

It seems that the fitting conclusion should come out of the Book of Romans Chapter 13 verse 11: "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."

Let's be clear there are only two items left on the list above, if this trend is going to be reversed, Christians and concerned individuals alike need to wake up!
