SLOT LOVERS BEWARE--Some Personal Observations
It's not just the School System that's corrupt! The current Administration and certain Members in the General Assembly can also share in this dubious distinction.
Maybe one reason that on 10 School Districts out of 501 have signed on to the Act 72 "program," is that they don't understand the 145-page monster that has been dumped in their laps by the Governor and the Leadership, and I use that term loosely, in the General Assembly.
Anyway, the proponents of "casino-style" gambling in Pennsylvania may have to head back to the drawing board, should the State Supreme Court rule that the "new slots law" is unconstitutional, which in case anyone wonders - IT CLEARLY IS, if for no other reason than it was rammed through the Legislature without having one day's worth of public hearings. Whoever heard of adopting any kind of law, let alone one so controversial as this without public hearings? I suppose those individuals who are supporting this boon-doogle thought that if it was done behind closed doors, the taxpayers would not find out what they were up to.
And just for the record--it's the taxpayers of our Commonwealth who end up footing the bill when our Legislature and our "esteemed" Governor mess-up. Well they sure dropped the ball on this so-called "Slots for Education Act." Let's hope the State Supreme Court gives this "Act" the burial it so richly deserves.
