I've had the same discussion with a number people recently. In reaction to the events of the Legislative Payraise in Pennsylvania, I'm continually hearing comments like "well what can we do", "nothing I do is gonna change that, its just the way it is". You are all absolutely right. There is nothing that you and I can do. I give up - we are simply pawns on election day to give the royalty of Pennsylvania their appropriate riches. We all stand alone and but a few of us shout out into the wilderness hoping for a shattering bolt of lightning from GOD which will right the wrongs of society.
"One man cannot make a difference".
No my friends, one man cannot unless he opens his mouth. Then a second man hears his thoughts and agrees to further the voice and then a third and then a fourth and then suddenly one man is many men and that voice is louder still until such time as it is heard over mountains and then...with the risk of losing it, the authority MUST listen.
These individuals who run Pennsylvania cannot do so without your acquiescence and approval. We have term limits in this country whether you will acknowledge them or not - they are called elections. No matter how much money a candidate spends to try to convince you of their value, you have the ability to look at the facts in their records yourselves and say NO! -
We've had the opportunity many times to see and understand that the individuals who make up our Pennsylvania General Assembly do not have the ability to stand on their own convictions. They play 'vote-trade' and volley for and against each other knowing full well they will protect their ilk because it protects their own political life. They express publicly that they "knew other legislators weren't going to vote against it so why should they?" - They talk out of both sides of their mouths to protect the riches that the office bring to them. They act to protect their positions with every ounce of their being. And why not? - We've proven that we will reward their dis-service time and time again because in their own words "we don't understand how it works."
Well I am one who believes that we do understand and even though it appears that the electorate of Pennsylvania has indeed been civically asleep for a few decades, the current general assembly has awakened a sleeping giant with this bill. A full scale embezzlement. Let us be the torch-barer for the nation and bring the responsibility of governing back to the people who actually own it.
In our country's colonial days, our founders could no longer allow the greed of an authoritarian 3000 miles away to steal from their hard work. Let this now be the time were we Pennsylvanians do the same.
