STRONG-ARM TACTICS OF A GOVERNMENT AGENCY!

You know, the arrogance and strong-arm tactics of our Government agencies never ceases to amaze me. Consider the following scenario:

A Mother and Son are planning a 2-month trip out of state. The child is handicapped and diabetic, and requires daily maintenance medication. The Mother inquires if there is a pharmacy at their destination where the prescriptions could be filled during the trip. She is informed that because the child is on Medical Assistance, he is not permitted to be out of state over 30 days or he will face the loss of his Medical Assistance. SOUND A LITTLE LIKE GEORGE ORWELL'S 1984? SOUND FAR-FETCHED?? THINK AGAIN!!

This is exactly what my wife was told when she made this precise inquiry of the insurance company which pays for our Son's medication. When questions were asked of the Department of Public Welfare, she got the typical Government run-around.

When a further inquiry was made through our State Representative's Office, this outrageous situation was confirmed, saying "that's the way it is." THIS MAY BE THE WAY IT IS, BUT IT IS 100% WRONG AND IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, AND CHANGED NOW!

Government , whether State or Federal, notwithstanding, simply does not have the right to dictate to any segment of our society where they can or cannot go or for how long. This is just strong-arm tactics of a Government Agency, and it must STOP!

The last time I looked, we do not live in a totalitarian society, and our Government agencies are supposed to provide services to its citizens when they are needed, not dictate how they are to live their lives in order to comply with unrealistic program regulations.

As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., once said: "Our lives begin to end the day we remain silent about things that matter."
