THE ARROGANCE OF DAVID "CHIP" BRIGHTBILL

"It's part of the compensation package." That was the response given to questions about the per-diem allowance that State Senator David "Chip" Brightbill takes just to make the trip to Harrisburg.

Brightbill also claimed that he has never actually read the Senate rules regarding the per-diem allowance but relied on the advice of others, and further attempted to rationalize the practice, by saying that the practice was in place before he was a Member of the PA State Senate. Can we say arrogant?? Can we also say cop-out??

Let's be clear, the average employee who commutes to and from Harrisburg will spend much more than the $126.00 per-diem that Senator Brightbill is so quick to defend, and they cannot claim any form of reimbursement. Also, State employees who are required to travel as part of their jobs receive a mileage allowance of approximately $.30 per mile, plus a subsistance allowance, which is clearly spelled out in the Commonwealth's Travel Regulations.

Considering the price of gas and parking in Harrisburg alone, the average State employee will quickly meet and exceed the $126.00 that Senator Brightbill receives as part of his "compensation package."

The whole issue of the Legislators pay raise has left a sour taste in the mouths of the People of Pennsylvania, and one can only come to one conclusion: IT'S TIME TO VOTE OUT THE ARROGANT THIEVES. THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE NEEDS TO BE HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR!!!
