After weeks of court testimony and arguments on both sides of this controversial issue a decision is forthcoming. While I have no insights into what that ruling will be I do have some observations to make on the overall issue of Intelligent Design.
First of all the statement that is posted to the website of the Dover Area School District is as bland as it can be. There are NO religious references contained in its text, and in fact God's Name is not even mentioned one time, so you'll excuse me if I'm not as worked up as the parents who filed the federal lawsuit. Quite frankly, I just don't see the problem.
I have my own philosophical problems with using one theory to disprove another theory, however Intelligent Design balances the playing field and allows students to decide for themselves how life began. I thought this is what the educational system was all about?
I can only speculate, of course as to what the Court's ruling will be, but my suspicious nature being what it is, I fear the decision will not be a good one.
STAY TUNED!
