WGAL Channel 8 General Manager, Paul Quinn, after receiving many emails from viewers concerned over the new NBC program "Book of Daniel" has taken the position that his station will air the program regardless of the Christian demographic's concerns.
"There are many programs on television that would better deserve your
vitriolic criticism. The main character is a an Episcopal minister with a family that has been scarred by the death of a son"
What Mr. Quinn fails to mention is that the general theme of this show is that the minister is bombarded by the devient behavior of his immediate family and fails greatly in communicating the viewpoint of his faith. A gay relative, a drug abusing daughter are only a few of the plotlines. The program portrays a character as Jesus Christ who instead of gracefully guiding the minister on his faith, gives him in today's terms a "way to deal wih it".
Mr. Quinn feels "The portrail could give some viewers hope".
It is an abomination and a blasphemis display and a continuing assault by NBC following in the footsteps of shows such as "Will and Grace" which portrays the gay lifestyle as something to be celebrated.
Channel 8 has been a great member of the South Central PA community and it
is appauling that they would agree to air such an inflamatory program which
blatently offends our Christian community. Please send your disagreement with this decision to pquinn@hearst.com

I happened to be channel surfing when such program was running, and for the 30 seconds I watched in disgust, I saw their portrayal of Christ as some jokester. It was well, demeaning.
I mean the Savior of all mankind, Son of God, to be portrayed as they did was to say the least highly unprofessional.
