Open Letters to Candidate Swann in PA

The people of Pennsylvania have been advised that there is a conservative republican running against Ed Rendell for Governor. Please help us find him, he must be hiding!

Letter 1 - From D.J Bowie

Swann For Governor
Post Office Box 3501
Pittsburgh, PA 15230-3501

Dear Mr. Swann:

In addition to questions regarding your position on the "Marriage Protection
Amendment," which as of this date you have not answered, I am now writing to
express my concern over your support for a slots parlor, in Pittsburgh, that
presumably will generate revenue necessary to build the "New Penguin Stadium."

According to your campaign website, you claim to share traditional conservative
values, however your continued silence on the MPA and other critical moral
issues facing Pennsylvania, coupled with your support for "casino-style"
gambling in our Commonwealth, raises serious questions about your commitment to
the cause of traditional conservatism.

Gambling is full of empty promises. It causes folks to spend money they cannot
afford to spend or lose, hoping to hit the "big jackpot." In the final analysis,
this ill-advised venture will cause more problems than it will be expected to solve.
It is a LOSE-LOSE for the citizens and voters of Pennsylvania.

It has long been my position that the State has no business promoting an
activity that has been proven to be addictive, and which is responsible for the
destruction of families and jobs.

It is my supreme hope that you will explain, in detail, your position on the issues
outlined in this message, and the other critical moral issues that are facing our
Commonwealth.

Sincerely,

--

Letter 2 - From Dan Colgan

March 31, 2006

Swann For Governor
Post Office Box 3501
Pittsburgh, PA 15230-3501

Dear Mr. Swann:

I would like to again tell you (as I have in 3 previously unanswered
emails and letters to you) how incredibly delighted I would be to vote for
a traditional conservative for Pennsylvania Governor. Unfortunately
however, there isn't anyone running who fits that bill. You have ignored
many chances to explain to the voters why you feel you espouse these
ideals and you have squandered them or have(if you pardon the seemly obvious punn) beaten around the political "BUSH" so to speak. You refuse, with the exception of your lip-service to the Pro-Life movement, to define your conservative positions on such things as Property Tax Relief, on Same Sex Marriage, on Judicial reform,
on the size of government, on and on I could go. You have now come out
FOR gambling. This doesn't sound like a traditional conservative to me.
This sounds like someone trying to appease the education elite.

What is it you would like? For us to believe site unseen (unheard) Or is
it more likely that you were simply hoping that we would be "Sheep" and be
thankful that someone with your name recognition would take on the
powerful Philadelphian. Well Mr. Swann, I'm sure there is the contingent
of voters in Pennsylvania who have taken your pitch hook line and sinker
but frankly this smells of political garbage to me.

Please set the record straight PUBLICLY, so that we may all believe and
soundly support you.

Sincerely,

Daniel P Colgan

Again...
