When PA Representative Scott Boyd announced the introduction of the "Marriage Protection Amendment," (MPA) I knew that arguments in opposition, to defining "marriage" as the union of one man and one woman, would be all over the map, however, I don't think anything could prepare me for the "Taliban" analogy proferred by State Representative Greg Vitali of Delaware County.
The mere thought that supporting the MPA is even remotely connected to the oppressive actions of the "Taliban," is not only inappropriate, but it is wholly irresponsible, and represents conduct unbecoming a person holding an elected office, to say nothing of Representative Vitali's absolute lack of judgment and poor choice of words.
That facts are quite simple, at least as I see them. The MPA does not impose any religious or moral beliefs on anyone. What it does do is strengthens the statutory "Defense of Marriage Act," by preventing its overturning by an activist Judge, and reinforces what Almighty God established 2000 years ago.
Representative Vitali's comments must be retracted immediately!
