The lesson that we should take from this as conservative Republicans is that a clear message has been sent by the voters. As a party we need to spend the next few weeks to lick our proverbial wounds and then as the band "The Eagles" so profoundly put it "GET OVER IT". We must revisit and revitalize our message that conservative social and family values, smaller less-intrusive government and the handling of the safety of our people are all best served by having Republican leadership (in the State Assembly, in the Federal Congress and in the Whitehouse). To that end...WE MUST LEAD. We must run and promote candidates that will not only represent our republican values with integrity and honor, but who are also willing to take a stand against the ever-expanding liberal revisionism of our laws. We must place candidates in the arena who will truly hold the trust of their constituency and their issues of priority as their highest concern.
In the months leading up to the election in 2008 we must double and triple our efforts to win back the confidence that, unfortunately whether deserved or not, our republican elected officials have gradually eroded both at the state and federal levels. That effort doesn't begin with the campaign season of 2008, it begins now, today.
