VOTERS "86" ACT #1

For the second time, since the debacle of Act 72, "Slots Rendell & Company" have been handed a sound defeat by the voters of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Act 1 referendum question, proposing a shifting of property taxes to either an earned income tax or a personal income tax, that appeared on the Primary Election ballot on May 15th was rejected by almost every school district across the State, some by a margin of more than 2 to 1.

The Rendell Administration claims that voters were confused about the proposal, but it is clear to this individual that there was little or no confusion, and the people of Pennsylvania saw through the shameless attempt of Fast Eddie & Friends to shift the tax burden, without really reforming a desperately broken system of funding education in the Commonwealth.

So, it's back to the drawing board, however I'm not holding my breath for any great solutions coming out of the Legislature or the Governor's Office.
