IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL IS A SHAM!!!

I have been following the debate on S.1348, the so-called comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill that is making its way through the United States Senate is nothing more than a sham, and represents the greatest insult to the intelligence of the hard working citizens, both natural born and naturalized, of this great Nation.

It absolutely defies all logic to allow 20 million "illegal" immigrants to remain in the United States, provide them jobs, exonorate their taxes, provide them with health benefits, put them on a fast-track to citizenship, and then secure our borders. But this is exactly what the Liberal Democratic Leadership in the Senate is proposing, and if Majority Leader Harry Reid has his way, this monstrosity will move toward final passage by the end of this week. Apparently he feels that two weeks of debate is enough discussion on this monumental issue. Well considering the number of Amendments that are being discussed, it is clear, at least to this individual that the Republican minority does not, and I for one am in complete agreement with them. But from my experiences with the legislative process, it just is not possible to make a bad bill into a good one, and make no mistake about it folks, S. 1348 is A BAD BILL! It can be amended to death, but it is still A BAD BILL!

2 weeks is more than enough. Are you forgetting that this debate has been going on for the past 10 years. Were you sleeping then? Procrastinating? Ear marking pet pork barrel projects?

2 weeks is more than gracious! Deal with it!

Actually, "anon" I've been quite awake and doing well, thanks for asking, but there hasn't been such an extensive debate on this issue over those ten years, such as is going on right now on the Floor of the Senate.

Honestly, I'm wondering just how much of our country are you willing to give away to those people who have come to our shores illegally?

And just for the record, 2 weeks isn't gracious, it's insulting considering the magnitude of this issue and the implications it will have for the American economy, not to mention our national defense and security.

I fully concur with the feelings of Senate Minority Floor Leader, Mitch McConnell when he stated that this issue needs to be debated fully, and all amendments discussed and voted, regardless of the time it takes. To do less does a disservice to the citizens of the United States.
