Holsinger Changes His Tune
The ever-increasing assault on morality has opened a new playing field. Now its the Bush administration that is turning tail in the face of liberal pressure instead of simply spin-less moderates...(or wait... maybe I'm being redundant in that statement???...nonetheless)... President Bush's nominee for the primarily ceremonial position of Surgeon General is noneother than an Al Gore clone... in 1990 Dr. James Holsinger (former Chancellor of the University of Kentucky Medical Center) held an aggressive position on stem cell research favoring its advancement as "a completely ethical and progressive means to advance medical research".
Dr. Holsinger's position on homosexuality and it's medical consequences also give rise for concern. In addition, in 1990 Dr. Holsinger correctly argued that the sexes are anatomically complementary and that "when the complementarity of the sexes is breached, injuries and diseases may occur." Fast forward to 2007 and his congressional confirmation hearings and we find a fully "evolved" Dr. Holsinger who now feels the issues he raised are not relevant in public health discussions today.
In regards to stem cell research,.. incredibly his views in this area have also "evolved" not surprisingly to support the views of his prospective boss, President Bush.
While I entertain the progression and ability of individuals to change their stand on one issue or another I also agree whole heartedly with Dr. Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council's statement that " While not an expert in human anatomy, I am 100% sure that human beings have not "evolved" into asexual beings, as Dr. Holsinger's new comments would suggest. Dr. Holsinger's confirmation should not fail because of his views, but because of his seeming lack of conviction on any of them. "
Watch the pattern it doesn't take a rocket scientist (or even a surgeon general confirmation) to know that attacks on human morality are coming from all sides including the ones you hope and trust are fighting along side you.
