ONLY IN AMERICA

A conversation with a friend from my Church, unfortunately while we were attending the funeral of another dear friend, has prompted this posting.
As I think about the title, I am reminded of a song by Jay and the Americans, which talked about the "Land of Opportunity," where people can come, fall in love and find their dreams. It makes a really great song, but it's not the America I know and live in. Let me tell you of some of the things that are happening--ONLY IN AMERICA:
Only in America can a 22-word prayer be declared unconstitutional.
Only in America, can reading the Bible and having religious instructions in our
schools be declared unconstitutional.
Only in America can public displays of the Ten Commandments be declared unconstitutional.
Only in America, can a State Supreme Court Chief Justice be thrown off the Bench because of his Faith and his public displaying of the Ten Commandments.
Only in America can we justify the taking of innocent unborn human life.
Only in America can we allow a severely injured person to be horribly starved to death, and call it "mercy killing."
Only in America can we rationalize unhealthy and ungodly behavior.
This sure doesn't sound like the America that Jay and the Americans sang about.
Does anyone know where we went wrong? Maybe, just maybe it's because, as a nation, we turned our back on Almighty God!
