PA HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER "CASTLE DOCTRINE" BILL

The "Castle Doctrine" has its origins in ancient common, declaring that a "home is a person's castle." It's short, sweet and directly on point. Yet there are those in the PA House of Representatives who believe that a citizen should retreat even in the face of great personal danger. This is not only ludicrous, it is very reckless thinking.

Which now leads me to legislation that is pending before the PA House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, specifically House Bill 641, Printer's Number 702, which reads in part: "No person should be required to surrender his or her personal safety to a criminal, nor should a person be required to needlessly retreat in the face of intrusion or attack outside the person's home or vehicle."

What is also clear is the declaration of Article 21 of the Declaration of Rights to the Constitution of Pennsylvania--"The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

Also, the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states--"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

These are basic and fundamental principles which clearly provides for the common defense for our homes and our society as a whole.

I would encourage every Pennsylvania resident to contact their State Representative and urge them to support House Bill 641, Printer's Number 702, and stand up for your Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms.
