As the title of this post states, the confirmation hearings on Judge John Roberts to be the 17th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court have begun, and already Liberal Democratic members of the Judiciary Committee are trying to pin Judge Roberts down on abstract and hypothetical cases.
As I watched the opening round of questions, I was all but nausiated by the repeated attempts of Senators Leahy, Kennedy and Biden, to pin down Judge Roberts on hypothethical issues and frequently interrupting his answers to a point where Chairman Arlen Specter had to step in and ask the Democratic Senator to allow Judge Roberts to complete his answer. If this is their idea of a fair hearing, it leaves much to be desired.
Let's take a look at just what was said and by whom--I think you'll find this interesting-I know I did:
The ultimate liberal Democrat, the infamous Chuck Schumer, of New York, who, in his opening statement made 5 references, to whether Judge Roberts would be an ideologue, or if his philosophies are consistent with the "mainstream."
Senator Biden of Delaware, in his opening remarks declared "our journey of progress is under attack from the Right." I'm wondering how he has reached this conclusion, considering the moral decline our country has seen since the 1962 Supreme Court decision of Engle v. Vitale, which effectively removed prayer from our public schools, or the 1963 decision of Abington v. Schempp, which removed the Bible from our schools, or the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling which legalized abortion on demand in the United States or the 1980 pronuncement of Stone v. Graham, which declared that posting the 10 Commandments was unconstitutional--and the list goes on. Please tell me Senator Biden or perhaps Senator Schumer--How many of these decisions were supported by Conservatives??? The answer is ABSOLUTELY NONE!!! And you are concerned about Judge Roberts being an idealogue? Please do not insult my intelligence, or the intelligence of the American people with such garbage.
And, of course I could not leave out the illustrious Senator from California Diane
Feinstein, who believes she is on a mission to represent the women of America. What a daunting responsibility that must be, Senator? She is right about one thing--The Supreme Court is moving to the Right--and I say it's about time!
As has been pointed out repeatedly during the first three days of hearings--The United States is at a critical time in our history--more so now than at any other time. This is not the time for liberal rhetoric and rancor, it is a time for strong conservative leadership. It is a time to return our country to the strong foundations that were laid by our Founding Fathers. It is a time to say NO to the ACLU, People for the American Way, and other organizations of their ilk who would seek to strip away all forms of religious and Christian expressions from our Nation.
Let's hope and pray that the Senate Judiciary Committee will act both deliberately and swiftly to recommend that Judge John Roberts be confirmed as the 17th Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
