DO OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS REALLY PAY ATTENTION TO THE PEOPLE THEY REPRESENT?

Let's take a little walk down memory lane, folks and review how business is done
by our Legislators, both State and Federal:

Remember July, 2005? Back-room deals on a Legislative pay raise, and then a
vote taken in the late hours of the night. Remember the firestorm of protest
that was unleashed by the PEOPLE of Pennsylvania? Remember how many INCUMBENT
members of the General Assembly who lost their jobs as a result of their
arrogance and greed?

Well, consider the ramifications that the so-called Comprehensive Immigration
Reform Act will have on the United States Senate and House of Representatives as
a result of their back-room deals and repeated votes to ram this ill-conceived
piece of legislation down the throats of the American people. Let's face it
folks, we not talking about something like a Congressional pay raise, but what
we are talking about is an issue with far more serious implications. And let's
be clear depending on how the Senate and House votes on this matter, it could
very well cost some of our so-called leaders their jobs.

Consider the following: 55% of the American people believe that immigration in
this country is too high.
70% believe that the total number of immigrants allowed in the United States,
both legal and illegal is too high. 76% believe that the current level of
enforcement of immigration laws is inadequate. With this kind of opposition
coming from the American people, one simply has to ask whether or not our
elected officials really pay attention to the opinions and feelings of their
constitutients? Care to hazard a guess what the answer to that question is?

The bottom line is this, at least from where I sit anyway: While the United
States is a country of immigrants, this is also a Nation of Law. You simply
cannot pick and choose the laws you will follow, disregard the ones you disagree
with or create new ones to suit a particular group of people. Simply stated,
such thinking on the part of our so-called Leaders is just irresponsible

Remember the fallout in Harrisburg after an ill-conceived and arrogant vote,
because the same could happen with a vote to pass the so-called "Immigration
Reform Act." THIS MIGHT BE YOUR "PAY RAISE" VOTE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN IN THE
CONGRESS, AND REMEMBER THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE WATCHING!

Well said, E-town right-winger. It is clearly obvious where "Bobby Casey" stands on this issue. Last week he was too busy pushing though legislation on native bees and their pollen to post a single statement on the immigration bill or where he stands for that matter. I have yet to receive a response to the email I sent him one week ago (Not that I expected an intelligent response anyway.) What does his staff DO all day? He is in office to serve and listen the PEOPLE of PA--- not the bees!

Anonymous--May I suggest that you go to thomas.loc.gov and then click on Roll Call Votes and then go to Senate votes for the 1st Session of the 110th Congress. You will see very clearly where Jr. Casey stands on the so-called Immigration Reform Bill. He's right there alongside Teddy Kennedy, Harry Reid & Company, selling the United States down the river.

BTW-and I hope you're sitting down for this one-but I just got a copy of the Immigration Bill from Casey's Office--talk about being surprised!! FYI the new Bill # is S.1639.

Plainly said .... NO THEY DON'T

I'm starting a new organization. American's for the Preservation of America... Our policy line will be that anyone who is currently in office or has been in office before will not be supported. Only those who will sign a pledge that every vote taken will be aligned with the will of their constituents will be endorsed.

What do you think?

Count me in CV!

I firmly believe that a vote in favor of this so-called Immigration Bill will cost many of these idiots their jobs come the next election, just as it did in Harrisburg 2 years ago, as I know you remember.

Just let me know how I will be able to help in this effort!

I appreciate the info, E-town... I was particularly concerned for Bobby's lack of accountability rather than the verification of his position. If I can help hold these "senators" feet to the fire.... tell me how!! I pray that Pennsylvania will find statesmen and get rid of the politians.

Anonymous--The best way I can think of to help in this effort is just what you are doing. Keep informed about Casey and Specter's voting record, not only on the Immigration issue, but ANY issue that concerns you as a citizen and a voter in this Nation, and do not hesitate to let them know what you are thinking. This is what sets us apart from any other country on this planet, and I firmly believe that we can make a difference both in Washington and Harrisburg, just by letting our elected officials know that we are watching what they are saying and how they are voting.

Maybe I'm just the eternal optimist, but this is what I honestly believe!
